Pregnant workers in the U.S. still lack critical protections in the workplace. Too many employers believe they can fire pregnant employees – or force them to quit or take unpaid leave – instead of providing temporary accommodations that would allow them to remain in the workforce and maintain a healthy pregnancy.
The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) would help stop this unacceptable practice. It is a bipartisan and common-sense bill that would help combat pregnancy discrimination and also protect the health and economic security of pregnant workers.
PWFA passed the House with a huge bipartisan vote (320-73) in the last Congress and we need to do it again as soon as possible. Pregnant workers shouldn’t have to wait any longer. Tell your representative to support the swift passage of the PWFA in this new Congress.
