Working for racial justice in one of the whitest states
How often have you heard someone say, “I’m not a racist” or “I have black friends"? Up until the last couple of years you might have heard, “We have made so much progress, I don’t think racism is really a problem anymore.” Yet racism isn’t just a matter of bigotry and acts of violence from those who espouse hate, it’s a culture that permeates our society, our institutions and our interactions with each other.
That’s why we’re hosting a workshop on racial justice in the Northeast Kingdom. Join us on Wednesday, July 11 at Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury to learn how you can increase your awareness of how racism operates, how people of color living in Vermont experience racism and how to begin building the skills and capacities needed to adequately address the issues in our own communities.
