Share your Story: Vermont’s State's Attorneys

County prosecutors – known as state's attorneys – are some of the most powerful elected officials in Vermont. They wield immense power in our court system with very little transparency, oversight, or accountability.

They are also elected officials, which means they answer to you, the voters. The ACLU of Vermont is working to engage local communities in holding their state's attorneys accountable, and we need your help.

Have you or a loved one had an interaction with Vermont's criminal legal system where your county's state's attorney impacted your case? We'd like to hear about it.

By sharing your story, you can help shape the future of our prosecutor reform efforts. The ACLU of Vermont will not share any of the information you provide to us without further discussion and your express consent. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at
