Artist-in-Residence Application

The ACLU of Texas seeks an artist or artist group working in any medium for our artist-in-residence program, which leverages the power of arts and culture to advance civil rights and civil liberties for all Texans, no exceptions.

The 2025 residency will last six to ten months, beginning in April 2025 and concluding no later than January 2026.

Please carefully review the program expectations, timeline, selection criteria, and compensation before filling out this form. Applications that do not align with the program's purpose, scope, and/or structure will not be considered.

This year's priority issues are: (1) border and immigrants' rights; (2) criminal justice reform; (3) free speech and pluralism. While we will consider artists working on our other issues, we will prioritize artists working on these issues. If you are selected for the 6-10 month residency, you will develop your project with direction from the ACLU of Texas and input from community stakeholders.
