With your support, we’ve been successful in moving important criminal justice, police practices, and workers' rights bills through the legislative session. But we’re not done yet… we need your voices and mobilizing to WIN these critical reforms in the next couple months ahead!
Join the ACLU SoCal and our partners statewide for the Rebuild the California Dream Lobby Day
When: Tuesday, August 7: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: State Capitol, Sacramento, CA (bus transportation available from Los Angeles- will depart evening of August 6)
What: We will be asking legislators to vote YES on three key laws that will help our communities:
· SB 10 (The California Money Bail Reform Act) would reform the broken money bail system to prioritize public safety and treat everyone equally regardless of their financial situation.
· AB 931 (Police Use of Deadly Force) would limit police use of deadly force to only when necessary to prevent death or serious injury.
· AB 3080 (Protections Against Forced Arbitration) would prevent employers from forcing workers to sign forced arbitration agreements, and would protect workers’ rights.
Prior to jumping on the bus (or traveling to Sacramento on your own), we’ll get you prepped on the bills and how to lobby at our pre-Lobby Day Training and Legislative Briefing on Wednesday, August 1st, 6:30-8:30pm: in-person at our Los Angeles office or via web-conference.
If you can’t join the Lobby Day in Sacramento, sign up for the legislative briefing so you can carry out advocacy in your home districts in the critical couple months ahead!
