ACLU of Oregon 2026 Legislative Session Webinar

Legislative Session Kickoff

Oregon’s six-week legislative session starts on Monday, February 2, 2026. This session, your ACLU of Oregon team will be tenacious in advocating for bills to address the serious public safety issue of law enforcement agents wearing masks and to protect healthcare providers and patients from federal and other out-of-state attacks related to abortion, reproductive, and gender-affirming health care received in Oregon.

It’s a short session, which means we have six very short weeks to pass important bills and things will be moving FAST. Even though the session has just begun, our bills are already up for hearings and we need your support. Grab your coffee or tea and join us on Saturday, February 7 to learn about our bills and the ways you can help to ensure that our priority bills become law!

Bills we will discuss include:

House Bill 4138: LAW ENFORCEMENT VISIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY (LEAVA)

Masked law enforcement agents, often with no identification, make it difficult for the public to know who is in our neighborhoods, what they are doing, and whether their actions are lawful. The Law Enforcement Accountability and Visibility Act (LEAVA) strengthens public trust by ensuring that all law enforcement actions in Oregon are more transparent, visible, and accountable.

House Bill 4088: STRENGTHENING PATIENT AND PROVIDER PRIVACY ACT

This legislative session, Oregon has the vital opportunity to join the firewall of states that have strengthened state-level protections for healthcare providers and patients who are subject to abusive attacks by the federal government and out-of-state actors. We must continue to fight for our rights.
