Share Your Story with the ACLU of North Carolina

Across North Carolina, people are being mistreated and stripped of their rights by our state’s unjust cash bail system. Most people locked up in our jails are not there because they have been convicted of a crime, but instead because they cannot afford to pay for their freedom before trial. This system is fueling mass incarceration in North Carolina, and it’s hurting our families and communities.

We want to hear from people across North Carolina who have been victims of our state’s unjust cash bail system. For example, were you or a family member unable to afford your bail and forced to remain in jail before your trial? Did you have to turn to a for-profit bail bond company for help and end up in debt?

Help us end the cash bail system that has harmed countless lives by sharing your own experience or your family’s experience.
