Don’t Ban Equality Business Letter Sign-On
On August 5, 2022 the Indiana General Assembly passed S.B. 1 — a cruel abortion ban with minimal exceptions, removing the choice for Hoosiers to decide if or when to become pregnant. In doing so, Indiana became the first state in the country to pass a new abortion ban since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
After a year of legal battles, the abortion ban took effect August 21, 2023, effectively eliminating abortion access across the state.
We are continuing to build on our base of statewide business partners that support reproductive freedom. Let Hoosiers know that your business supports access to reproductive care by signing on to the Don’t Ban Equality letter (see full text below):
Don’t Ban Equality
It’s time for companies to stand up for reproductive health care.
Equality in the workplace is one of the most important business issues of our time. When everyone is empowered to succeed, our companies, our communities and our economy are better for it.
Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health, independence and economic stability of our employees and customers. Simply put, it goes against our values, and is bad for business. It impairs our ability to build diverse and inclusive workforce pipelines, recruit top talent across the states, and protect the well-being of all the people who keep our businesses thriving day in and out.
Bans on equality put our families, communities, businesses and the economy at risk. We, the undersigned, employ Hoosiers across the state of Indiana and stand against policies that hinder people’s health, independence and ability to fully succeed in the workplace.
Please note: You will be contacted by the ACLU of Indiana to confirm the legitimacy of your business. Your business name will not be added to the letter until after this confirmation.
