"Chicago Love" Screening and Discussion
The ACLU of Illinois, Pride Action Tank, Howard Brown Health and the Transformative Justice Law Project would like to invite you to a special screening of “Chicago Love” from the ACLU’s documentary series Trans in America on Tuesday, February 19th.
“Chicago Love” follows Eisha Love as she rebuilds her life after being incarcerated and faces the challenges of trying to get a steady job as an out trans woman with a criminal record. Her story highlights a broken criminal justice system with rates of incarceration through the roof, where people are held without trial, where jails aren’t safe for anyone — and are particularly dangerous for trans women.
Please join us on Tuesday, February 19, at The Chicago Urban League, 4510 S. Michigan Ave., 1st Floor. There will be a reception starting at 5: 30 p.m., followed by the screening and discussion from 6 - 7:30 p.m.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and group conversation to discuss different paths forward to affect change here in Chicago and Illinois. As a follow-up, we will schedule another roundtable meeting for people to gather, share ideas for moving forward, and talk about the work already being done to address these issues.
If you have any questions about this event please contact Jamie Murphy at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312-201-9740 x 353.
