Jan Weaver
Hi! My name is Jan (Janet) Weaver. I moved to Oxnard, CA in August of 2019. I got here just before the pandemic. I have been a member of the Calvary Westlake since 200.0 I have been very active in Grief Share since my husband died in 2009 and am a facilitator with Grief Share. I believe in the things ACLU stands for: our Constitution, women’s rights, everyone should have access affordable healthcare, free speech, and the pathway to a good education.

Michelle Goldstein
My name is Michelle Goldstein, and I am a passionate advocate, educator, and a voice for the voiceless. I have always been passionate about supporting, empowering, and educating others -- especially the underdog. My life has had a central theme of advocacy and philanthropy. When I was in grade school I participated in the Girl Scouts for volunteer opportunities. After university, I went to the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan and the Philippines, where I taught English and women empowerment at a local elementary school and at a university. Currently, I am a special education teacher with the Oxnard Union High School District, a facilitator in professional development for working with students with autism, I am on the board for the autism society, and have an affiliation with the ADL. I aim to continue making an impact to further support those who are oppressed. I hope to join the official board of the ACLU SoCal Ventura Chapter. I have been following the ACLU as a young teenager and continue to be awed and empowered by the amazing work the ACLU does. I will be honored to have the privilege of joining the board.

Patrissha Booker
My name is Patrissha Booker. As a Black woman, I have always been deeply committed to advocating for the rights of vulnerable populations. The ongoing struggles faced by these communities fuel my dedication to causes where their rights are constantly under threat. My educational background in sociology and psychology has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to engage with others thoughtfully and empathetically. I believe in the power of understanding diverse perspectives, which is why I see my social anxiety disorder as a strength rather than a disability. It serves as a constant reminder to approach every interaction without judgment, allowing me to connect with others on a deeper level. The ACLU provides a platform where I can apply my experiences and education to make a meaningful impact in the fight for justice, equality, and the protection of civil liberties.

Rita Henry
I am a bilingual (Spanish and English) retired teacher who taught for 45 years. I was in the Peace Corps my first two years as a teacher. I taught throughout the state from Los Angeles to the San Joaquin Valley. Loved working with the students, their parents and community members. Did a lot of outreach and parent education in English and Spanish.
