Dictionary of the Undoing for the ACLU

Dictionary of the Undoing was inspired by the need to take one tool being vandalized before our very eyes—language—and reclaim it. We need to grab the words that have possibility in them and begin using them anew.

The book is an attempt to build a lexicon of engagement and meaning in a time and media age that has made a mockery of those forces in our lives.

But the ultimate cause is to spark action.

To that end, a substantial portion of the book's royalties and proceeds will be donated to the ACLU—the one organization whose long-time, expansive commitment to the Freedom of Expression best represents the issues at the core of the book. And its current, urgent focus on Immigrants' Rights and the inhumane disaster at our border, on Racial Justice, LGBTQ+ Rights, Voting Rights and more, takes on the full breadth of all that we need to fight for.

Thank you for supporting our campaign. We have a big, important fight ahead.
