Impacted by HB 7/Stop W.O.K.E. Act in K-12 Education? We want to hear from you.
Signed into law in 2022, HB 7 chills discussions of race, gender, national origin, and the impact of slavery and systemic oppression in workplaces and classrooms. It prevents educators from discussing these topics in classrooms and is serving as the motivation for the DeSantis Administration censoring courses and course content, such as AP African American History courses, and banning books from classrooms and libraries.
Since HB 7/the Stop W.O.K.E. Act was signed into law, our attorneys at the ACLU of Florida and in our National office have been evaluating our strongest plan for litigation in K-12 education, and we are reaching out to our supporters to help in those efforts.
Here’s how you can help:
- Are you a parent or guardian with a child enrolled in any Florida K-12 school, and are you concerned about the impact HB 7 will have on the quality of your child's education?
- Are you a K-12 student concerned about the impact HB 7 will have on your studies?
- Are you a K-12 educator or educational professional whose work has been impacted by HB 7, or are you concerned about the impact of HB 7 on your work and your students’ education?
If any of these scenarios are applicable to you, we'd love to hear from you.
