Economic justice is central to our civil rights and civil liberties, and that is why we are advocating for lawmakers to ensure the wealthiest are paying their fair share in taxes.

The federal budget passed last summer (the "Big Beautiful Bill") gave each Vermonter in the top 1% a $57,000 tax cut. That's more than the average Vermonter will make in a year.

Meanwhile, too many Vermonters are struggling to make ends meet. On top of that, deep cuts to federal funding for programs that we all rely on are adding financial strain to our communities – and we need revenue to respond to these budget shortfalls. Now more than ever, it's time for the wealthiest Vermonters to pay their fair share of taxes.

It's important to let your elected leaders know that you support increasing taxes on the wealthiest Vermonters to raise state revenue, including through H.621, which would only increase taxes on Vermonters making over $500,000 per year.

More state revenue means more resources for fixing our roads and bridges, supporting Vermont families, increasing access to health care and housing, and protecting our environment, and building a Vermont that everyone can afford.
