Building a Firewall for Freedom

The message:

In the face of mounting threats to our most basic freedoms, we are urging state leaders to take action now to protect Vermonters from federal overreach.

Impose stronger restrictions on the use of state and local resources to aid in federal immigration actions: This includes strengthening existing non-cooperation policies, including the Fair and Impartial Policing policy.

Provide funding for threatened health care services: To ensure access to essential services such as reproductive and gender-affirming care, we must be prepared to financially support the providers who are on the front lines fighting to support their patients while facing potential federal funding cuts.

Improve oversight of law enforcement: To guard against federal overreach through state and local law enforcement, we need to impose more meaningful oversight of law enforcement and limit unnecessary interactions with police, especially on our roadways.

Increase digital privacy protections: We need to create greater protections for publicly and privately held personal data that could be used to target vulnerable communities.

Vermont's elected officials must use the resources in their power to protect us against any attempt to roll back our rights and freedoms.
