Gov. Baker sent back a modified version of the policing bill to state lawmakers. His amendments would severely weaken core racial justice provisions and remove ALL of the proposed commonsense regulations on face surveillance technology.
UPDATE: The Senate voted to move the policing bill forward, and the House may do the same any day now.
Face surveillance poses grave threats to civil rights and civil liberties, especially for people of color. Establishing basic safeguards on this racially biased technology is essential for bringing the Commonwealth forward on racial justice.
Tell lawmakers to reject Baker's amendments and pass a strong police reform bill!
