5/7/2025 Bad news – Gov. Hobbs signed HB 2880 into law, but there’s still time to stop HB 2867, another bill that would erode free speech.

6/4/2025 Arizona lawmakers just passed HB 2867, and now the bill is headed to the governor’s desk. Ask Hobbs to veto this unconstitutional bill!

Background:

HB 2867 would curb free speech at a time when we must firmly protect people’s right to dissent. HB 2867 was designed to punish students and educators who disagree with government views on Israel and sow division. Send Governor Hobbs a message urging her to veto this bill.

The recipient:

Governor Hobbs

The impact:

Students, faculty, and university staff are often at the forefront of civil and human rights movements, putting their futures on the line to call out injustice where they see it. Rather than fortifying free speech protections in the wake of the federal government’s unconstitutional actions against student protesters, the Arizona legislature is advancing another bill to enable them. Governor Hobbs must use her veto power to stop HB 2867.
