The message:

If people wearing ski masks and tactical gear with no visible identification swarmed your workplace to take your coworkers away in unmarked vehicles – would you be able to tell the difference between federal law enforcement and a kidnapping? What if they took your family member or friend – how could you find or contact them, or figure out what kind of lawyer to call, without knowing who those agents were?

We've seen that exact scene play out in immigration raids across the country – and it's about to get worse. Congress has voted to give an unprecedented $170 billion more to the Trump administration for immigration enforcement. More money means more raids – and more raids means more unidentified federal law enforcement intimidating and in some cases terrorizing our communities. We should not have to live in fear of masked, armed agents on our streets.

The VISIBLE Act would require federal agents to wear visible ID showing the agency they work for and a name or badge number, and would ban ski masks and other non-medical face coverings. Tell Congress: Pass the VISIBLE Act immediately.

Subject:

Pass the VISIBLE Act

Body:

Right now, across the country, we’re hearing stories of people afraid of masked, unidentified agents and violent raids – too many of our loved ones and neighbors are living in fear as they go about their daily lives.

That is thanks to President Trump and his deportation architect, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, who have sent masked federal agents in tactical gear to swarm students outside their dorms, drag people from their workplaces, and force people into unmarked vehicles – without even the certainty that they were interacting with genuine agents.

Our communities should not be forced to live in fear of masked agents who refuse to answer basic questions about who they are. That's why I’m calling on you, as my representative in Congress, to pass the VISIBLE Act immediately.

This bill helps reduce fear, mistrust, and danger in interactions between the public and government agents. I hope you’ll do everything in your power to pass this bill now.

Sincerely,
