For more than two decades, Marylanders given parole-eligible life sentences have been systematically denied a meaningful opportunity for parole, regardless of whether they have earned it.
Maryland's parole system is broken for the nearly 2,100 people who are serving parole-eligible life sentences. Our state is one of only three in the country where the governor must personally approve parole for lifers, even after rigorous vetting by the entire Parole Commission. This has wrongly politicized the system.
Support House Bill 1219 / Senate Bill 817 to take the politics out of parole in Maryland.
Please take action now.
