Support Just Marijuana Legalization

The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act has passed the House, and it’s now up to the Senate to act. While an increasing number of states are moving to decriminalize and legalize marijuana, the federal government still criminalizes marijuana and racial disparities in arrests are not improving. In some parts of the country, racial disparities in arrests are getting even worse. It’s past time that we not just legalize marijuana but do so in a way that tackles racial disparities head-on. The MORE Act does just that. So please, tell your senators in Congress to pass this equitable marijuana legalization that includes these same racial and social justice measures.

Pass Just Marijuana Legalization

The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act passed in the U.S. House of Representatives, and as your constituent, I’m urging you to support similar legislation in the Senate. That means decriminalizing marijuana at the federal level – and adopting social justice reforms that will begin to redress the harm that criminalization has caused communities of color. While an increasing number of states have adopted decriminalization measures, federal laws are out of sync with those efforts and hinder state progress. In fact, arrests for marijuana persist and disproportionately impact Black people. Federal decriminalization, including expungement and re-sentencing for past marijuana offenses, will support state efforts to decriminalize.

It’s past time to make marijuana legal – no matter who you are. Support just marijuana legalization today.

Sincerely,
