Don't let the government age-gate the internet

The internet can feel like the wild west, a place where people of all ages are just a few clicks away from encountering explicit content. Given this digital landscape, it is understandable that parents want to shield their kids from materials intended for adults.
But House Bill 1053 would require people to undergo an invasive age verification process before accessing Constitutionally protected speech online.
By requiring users to upload their government-issued ID, bank account information, or credit card number to prove their age, these bills compromise our online privacy undermine the First Amendment's fundamental right to free expression and represent government overreach into our private lives.
In the history of the internet, we've never been required to present an official ID to merely visit a website – especially when parental controls and device-level filters are effective tools for preventing children from seeing adult-oriented content online.
Ask your senator to protect our digital privacy and oppose House Bill 1053.
