The message:

Anti-abortion politicians are pressuring the FDA to make it harder for patients nationwide to get medication abortion – despite President Trump's promises on the campaign trail that he would not let the federal government interfere with abortion access. Not satisfied with banning abortion in more than a dozen states, these politicians are now going after mifepristone, a safe and effective medication used in most U.S. abortions.

Mifepristone has been safely used by millions of patients over the last 25 years, and most people having abortions in the U.S. choose medication abortion. More than a quarter of these patients get that care through telemedicine – but now, abortion opponents want the FDA to force every patient to travel in-person to a health center to pick up their mifepristone, despite overwhelming evidence that this medication is equally safe and effective whether patients fill their prescription at a health center, at a local pharmacy, or by mail.

Telemedicine makes abortion accessible, empowering people to safely get the care they need without having to travel hundreds of miles just to pick up a pill. And that is why stopping it is abortion opponents' top priority. In order to counter that pressure, President Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. need to hear from us: Tell the Department of Health and Human Services to keep politics out of science and not impose new nationwide restrictions on medication abortion.
