Tell President Biden to Protect Our Veterans
TAKE ACTION NOW
We cannot allow our veterans to be deported again.
Thanks to a years-long campaign, after decades of exile from the country to which they've pledged their lives, over 120 deported veterans have finally returned home to the U.S. But without pardons from President Biden, most of them will soon be at risk of deportation again.
One in three veterans have been arrested or jailed for crimes like substance use directly connected to their traumatic military service. Like everyone else, immigrant veterans serve their sentences after they are convicted of a crime. But unlike other veterans, immigrant veterans often face a second, life-long punishment: mandatory deportation.
Twenty-seven repatriated veterans have asked President Biden for federal pardons to protect them from deportation and restore a pathway to citizenship. Join our veterans and their families and take action now.
What you should know:
- Immigrants have served honorably in the military since our nation’s founding.
- Immigrants serve not only honorably but exceptionally — 20% of all Congressional Medals of Honor recipients are immigrants.
- Nearly every immigrant that served in the military in recent history was a Lawful Permanent Resident. Many were raised and attended school in the U.S.
- Deported veterans are separated from their families, military benefits and healthcare they earned through their service.
- Hundreds of deported veterans have been exiled to countries to which they have no ties.
