The message:

For too long, the government has used the Espionage Act to silence whistleblowers and journalists.

Originally written during World War I, this century-old law contains overly broad provisions that can be used to prosecute those who expose government wrongdoing – like Daniel Ellsberg, who was prosecuted for disclosing the Pentagon Papers and revealing the government's lies about the Vietnam War. Exposing government misconduct shouldn't be a crime. Neither should reporting. That's why we're urging Congress to pass the Daniel Ellsberg Press Freedom and Whistleblower Protection Act.

Named for the whistleblower behind the Pentagon Papers, this bill would reform federal law to prevent its misuse against journalists and whistleblowers, affirming a simple principle: Americans have the right to hold power accountable. Take action today and tell your representative to co-sponsor the Whistleblower Protection Act.
