Congress: Pass The Equality Act

The Supreme Court has ruled that LGBTQ people are protected from discrimination under federal law, but there are still critical gaps in our nondiscrimination laws. The Equality Act addresses modern forms of discrimination, including against all women, people of color, and LGBTQ people in areas such as transportation, retail spaces, and taxpayer-funded programs – making it, for the first time under federal law, illegal to discriminate against individuals for “shopping while Black” or “flying while Brown.”

It's more important than ever that all people have comprehensive, nationwide protection against discrimination. The Senate must follow the House of Representatives in finally passing the Equality Act – and build upon the momentum of last year's historic Supreme Court ruling involving our late client, Aimee Stephens.

Pass the Equality Act (H.R. 5/S. 393)

As your constituent, I urge you to support Senate passage of the Equality Act (H.R. 5/S. 393), which would finally provide explicit and comprehensive nationwide nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people – and update protections for all women and people of color.

All of us should be able to fully participate in public life. Everyone deserves a fair chance to support themselves, provide for their family, and live as their true selves free from the fear of harassment or discrimination. Please support the Senate's passage of the Equality Act (H.R. 5/S. 393).

Sincerely,
