Let trans students compete

Most recent signers:

The message:

All young people, transgender and cisgender, benefit from being involved in school activities, including sports. Athletics give trans youth a sense of belonging and inclusion. Research also consistently shows that participation in activities benefits students emotionally and academically.

S.B.9 is just another divisive attack on trans students that is based on inaccurate and harmful beliefs about trans people. This bill is part of a larger campaign across the country to pit cisgender athletes against trans athletes, further the political and cultural divide in our state and in our nation, and keep the right-wing outrage machine humming along.

Trans youth have the right to participate in sports consistent with who they are, just like anyone else. Denying them that opportunity is blatantly unconstitutional and discriminatory.

Contact your state rep and urge them to reject S.B.9

Review Message

We put in some suggestions, but make the message your own where possible!

Subject:

Vote "No" on S.B.9

Body:

Transgender people want to participate in athletics for the same reasons as their peers: to challenge themselves, improve fitness, and be part of a team. Banning trans students from participation in athletics is cruel and discriminatory.

Senate Bill 9 is based on inaccurate and harmful beliefs about transgender people. Leading medical organizations, like the American Academy of Pediatrics, have decried such discriminatory bans as unscientific.

I urge you to oppose S.B.9 and reject this discriminatory and dangerous attack on transgender students who want to play sports.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
