Tell your state senator: Hands off abortion care in Pennsylvania!

Act Now

At a time when Americans' access to abortion is endangered, politicians in Harrisburg are trying to block the right to abortion in our state by amending the Pennsylvania Constitution. Extremist lawmakers want to use our foundational document, which typically guarantees the people's rights, as a tool for restricting access to this vital form of healthcare.

Governor Wolf has been a staunch defender of access to abortion. In response, anti-abortion lawmakers are trying to legislate by constitutional amendment, which does not require approval from the governor.

There are already numerous hurdles to abortion in Pennsylvania, especially for people of color, people living in poverty, and rural Pennsylvanians. If Senate Bill 956 passes the legislature twice and is approved by a simple majority of voters, it would lay the foundation for extreme restrictions on abortion care, in the absence of federal constitutional protection of the right to abortion.

S.B. 956 also explicitly prohibits public funding for abortion care, a ban that has the most impact on people who rely on Medicaid for their healthcare coverage and cannot afford to pay for an abortion out of pocket.

Contact your state senator and ask them to protect access to abortion by voting "no" on S.B.956!

The ability to obtain abortion care is fundamental to a person’s independence, freedom, equality, and economic security. Regardless of how we feel personally about abortion, banning access to abortion by law denies Pennsylvanians our freedom and a chance to make deeply personal and private decisions about our health, our bodies, and our families.

Senate Bill 956, if adopted by the legislature and approved by voters, could deny the right to abortion care in Pennsylvania - even in cases of rape, incest, or life-threatening conditions. Please vote "no" on S.B. 956.

The decision about whether and when to become a parent is one of the most important life decisions we make. I hope that we can agree this is a decision best left to families and their healthcare providers.

Senate Bill 956 could take away a crucial healthcare decision from every woman across Pennsylvania. No one should be forced to carry a pregnancy against their will.

Please vote "No" on S.B. 956.

Sincerely,
