Trigger Abortion Ban on the Move: Stop HB 598
Right now, there are two identical abortion trigger bans being considered in the Ohio Statehouse. HB 598 in House Government Oversight Committee and SB 123 in Senate Health Committee. The passage of either would be detrimental to abortion rights. HB 598 is moving through the House chamber and we need to shut it down and protect the rights of Ohioans.
House Bill 598 would pave the way to banning all abortions within the state of Ohio in the event that the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade, with the exception of preventing death or irreversible impairment. Known as a “trigger ban,” this dangerous legislation would obstruct access to safe, critical healthcare for Ohioans, while stripping away reproductive autonomy from millions of people who can become pregnant.
Across the country, abortion access is on the line, and Ohio is no different. If passed, House Bill 598 would create barriers to care instead of bridges, and disproportionately affect people of color, individuals with financial restraints, and those living in rural areas.
TAKE ACTION: Contact the House Government Oversight Committee and tell them STOP House Bill 598.
