People Not Prisons: SB 3 Must Pass!

TAKE ACTION NOW

We will never reduce Ohio's prison and jail populations if we cannot identify meaningful sentencing reform bills when we see them – and do everything in our power to ensure their passage.

Senate Bill 3 was introduced in February 2019 and it still hasn’t left committee! Our lawmakers must seize this opportunity to pass this bill that would lower Ohio's prison population, save the state millions of dollars, and help more Ohioans rebuild their lives after going through the court system.

Tell Senate President Larry Obhof and Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee John Eklund to stick to their promises and advance Senate Bill 3 out of committee and out of the Senate! This legislation (and others) are needed to address our mass incarceration crisis. And yes, it is a crisis.

SB 3 reclassifies some low-level, nonviolent drug possession crimes from felonies to misdemeanors to ensure that people struggling with addiction receive treatment rather than jail time.

SB 3 RESISTS THE WAR ON DRUGS.
SB 3 HAS BIPARTISAN SUPPORT.
SB 3 MUST PASS!
