Fire the officer who killed Eric Garner

With arms wrapped around his neck, Eric Garner uttered his last words, “I can’t breathe,” more than five years ago. Since then, his family has been tirelessly searching for justice.

Finally, the New York Police Department’s Deputy Commissioner of Trials recommended that Officer Daniel Pantaleo be removed from the NYPD for using a banned chokehold on Garner. The decision comes almost five years to the day after he was killed.

TAKE ACTION: Tell Mayor Bill de Blasio that Pantaleo must be fired and that all officers should be held accountable.

Fire Daniel Pantaleo

I am writing to demand that you fire Officer Daniel Pantaleo and hold all NYPD officers accountable.

With arms wrapped around his neck, Eric Garner uttered his last words, “I can’t breathe,” more than five years ago. Since then, his family has been tirelessly searching for justice.

Finally, the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Trials recommended that Officer Daniel Pantaleo be removed from the NYPD for using a banned chokehold.

Pantaleo should never wear a police officer’s uniform ever again. But this case goes beyond just one officer.

If the NYPD wants to rebuild trust with the communities it serves, it must show the city of New York that police officers aren’t above the law.

Sincerely,
