No Wrongful Execution for Tony Carruthers

Background:
Tony Carruthers was tortured by the state of Tennessee for over an hour in a botched execution attempt that should have never happened in the first place. There is forensic evidence that could prove Tony was wrongfully convicted, but the state refuses to test it.
No physical evidence was ever found connecting Tony to the crime. His conviction was based on paid and faulty testimony that was later recanted. Tony was forced to represent himself at trial, meaning he had no lawyer to contest the state's flimsy case against him.
Tony deserves justice – not continued suffering at the hands of a state that won't even complete its investigation. Following the botched execution attempt, Governor Bill Lee granted a year-long reprieve. Now, he must make sure that Tony never experiences this torture again by commuting Tony's death sentence.
Join us in calling on the governor to commute Tony's death sentence.
