Despite a lack of evidence to support the claim that police in schools prevent violence or tragedy, Governor Ducey is seeking $11 million for school police funding. Putting law officers in schools increases the risk of discipline and incarceration for children – especially children of color and children with disabilities, and will not keep Arizona students safe.
Arizona children have the right to feel safe in schools. But placing more cops in schools will only make children feel like suspects, not students.
