We all have a right to abortion - without barriers, stigma, or government interference. On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — the landmark decision recognizing the constitutional right to abortion nearly 50 years ago. This decision strips millions of people across the country of a fundamental human right and emboldens anti-abortion politicians across the country. This moment can only be met with bold and collective action. New Jersey lawmakers must take immediate action to expand access to abortion in our state by passing S2918/A4350 now.
This moment calls for bold leadership. I urge you to take swift action by passing S2918/A4350 and meaningfully expanding access to affordable abortion care for all. Anything less is unacceptable.
The gap in abortion access is a racial and economic justice issue, and that lack of access reinforces structural inequities that overwhelmingly harm communities of color and undocumented community members. We must guarantee that abortion is not just legal, but accessible and affordable for all, regardless of insurance, immigration status, or income, and we need it now.
