Tell NJ Elected Officials: Move Cannabis Legalization and Decriminalization Forward

Act Now

Last November, New Jerseyans across the state voted overwhelmingly in support of legalizing cannabis for adult use, primarily due to the tremendous harm the war on drugs has perpetrated on Black, brown, and low-income communities. With every day that goes by, New Jerseyans across the state continue to be arrested, limiting opportunity, and devastating families and communities. New Jersey can't afford any more delays.

Urge Governor Murphy and members of the New Jersey Legislature to quickly reach an agreement to move cannabis legalization and decriminalization in New Jersey forward.

Last November, New Jerseyans across the state voted overwhelmingly in support of legalizing cannabis for adult use, primarily due to the tremendous harm the war on drugs has perpetrated on Black, brown, and low-income communities. For decades, the criminalization of cannabis has devastated New Jerseyans through discriminatory policing and long-term collateral consequences, harming our collective social and economic well-being.

New Jersey has made progress towards ending cannabis prohibition, and your leadership and commitment to this goal are greatly appreciated. Now, your continued leadership is urgently needed to get us over the finish line. With every day that goes by, New Jerseyans across the state continue to be arrested, limiting opportunity, and devastating families and communities.

The time has come to end criminalization, begin to repair the harms of prohibition, and build an equitable and inclusive marketplace.

I urge you to immediately advance a solution and move this vital issue forward. The time has come to actualize the will of New Jersey voters, legalize and decriminalize cannabis, and to ground youth consequences in harm reduction and public health principles.

New Jersey cannot afford any more delays.

Sincerely,
