This legislative session we have seen increased efforts from lawmakers to enforce mandatory minimum sentences, which are arbitrary one-size-fits-all sentences that have been proven to be ineffective, unjust, and expensive.
Currently, SB 14, a mandatory minimum sentence bill that would over-punish individuals for certain drug-related crimes and contribute to mass incarceration across the Granite State, is heading to Governor Ayotte’s desk soon.
If passed, SB 14 would ignore the unique circumstances of each case, take discretion away from judges and what they see fit for sentencing, and undermine critical constitutional rights of people accused of a crime.
Will you help us stop SB 14 and advocate for holistic, fair solutions to justice reform?
Governor Ayotte
