Tell Governor Sununu: Veto All Anti-LGBTQ Bills

Act Now

New Hampshire has had a tradition of protecting the rights and dignities of LGBTQ people in the state – but right now, Governor Chris Sununu is deciding on four bills that would dismantle these rights and make the Granite State a less welcoming and safe place. These bills have already passed the State House of Representatives and State Senate meaning, if they are signed by the Governor, they would become law.

One bill, HB 396, would roll back transgender anti-discrimination protections in bathrooms and locker rooms, sports teams, and safer carceral housing placements – which would violate the rights of transgender Granite Staters under state and federal law as well as create an avenue to increase discrimination and harassment they already face.

HB 619 singles out transgender youth by targeting essential healthcare known as gender-affirming care, which is widely recognized as the only evidence-based approach to addressing the physical, mental, and emotional needs of transgender youth.

Lastly, HB 1205 and HB 1312 target transgender and LGBTQ students in schools. HB 1205 would ban transgender girls in grades 5-12 from playing on sports teams that correspond with the gender they live every day. HB 1312, a classroom censorship bill, would require parental notification on any course material referencing LGBTQ health and identities.

There’s no time to wait: Tell Governor Sununu that hate has no place in the Granite State and to veto HB 396, HB 619, HB 1205, and HB 1312!

As your constituent, I am writing to ask you to veto every single bill attacking LGBTQ and transgender rights. These bills are harmful to LGBTQ and transgender youth, their family, and the over 59,000 LGBTQ people living in New Hampshire.

Sincerely,
