TAKE ACTION: Ask Gov. Burgum to Veto Anti-Trans Bill

Act Now

Trans people belong everywhere in North Dakota – including sports.

Unfortunately, the North Dakota legislature doesn't think so and has passed House Bill 1298, legislation that would prohibit transgender student-athletes from playing on teams that match their gender identity.

House Bill 1298 isn't about protecting fairness in sports. It's a bill that violates the United States Constitution and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, which protects all students – including those who are transgender – from discrimination based on sex. It's a bill that erases and excludes trans people from participation in all aspects of public life. And it's a bill that creates a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, harming some of the most vulnerable people in our state.

This kind of discrimination needs to stop.

We need to send a message loud and clear that North Dakotans don't want House Bill 1298 signed into law. Contact Governor Burgum today and urge him to veto House Bill 1298.

Please veto House Bill 1298, legislation that will prohibit transgender student-athletes from playing sports on teams that match their gender identity. This kind of discriminatory legislation has no place in our state.

Nobody wins when politicians start meddling in people's lives like this. Nobody wins when we codify discrimination like this. Inclusive teams that support all athletes and encourage participation should be the standard for all school sports.

Please veto House Bill 1298.

Sincerely,
