Ask your senator to support transgender youth

TAKE ACTION NOW

Trans, nonbinary, and two-spirit youth (and people of all ages) deserve to be treated the same as everybody else. We know that when young people are supported by their families and communities, they thrive. Research shows that trans youth whose families support their gender identity have a 52 percent decrease in suicidal thoughts, a 48 percent decrease in suicide attempts, and a significant increase in self-esteem and general health.

Tell your Senator to vote against HB 112.

HB 112 aims to ban young trans athletes from participating in athletic activities consistent with their gender. This bill would be devastatingly harmful to trans youth, their peers, and entire school communities. Want to learn more? Read Four Myths About Trans Athletes Debunked.

Given how much this bill will harm young people, it is unconscionable that lawmakers would consider supporting this type of legislation. Ask your senator to say “no” to HB 112.

Your Message

Transgender and gender nonbinary youth deserve to be treated the same as everybody else. I am writing to ask you to oppose HB 112 because it targets, harms, and dehumanizes transgender youth in Montana. This bill, if passed into law, could also cost the state millions, if not billions, of dollars.

HB 112 would ban young trans athletes from participating in athletic activities consistent with their gender identity. This bill would be devastatingly harmful to trans youth, their peers, and entire school communities.

Given how much this bill will harm young people and damage our state’s economy, it is unconscionable that some lawmakers have supported this legislation. Please do the right thing, support trans youth, and oppose HB 112.

Sincerely,
