Protect Access to Safe and Legal Abortions

TAKE ACTION NOW

HB 500 is an out-of-touch and dangerous bill that would ban abortions at 20 weeks.

Tell your legislators to vote NO on HB 500!

Nearly 99 percent of abortions occur before 21 weeks. But abortions can be needed later in pregnancy in complex and sometimes emergency circumstances. The government shouldn’t be getting between the healthcare decisions we make with our doctors. But, that’s exactly what some Montana legislators are trying to do.

Here’s more reasons to oppose HB 500:

  • This is nothing more than an attempt to restrict Montanans’ access to safe and legal abortion.
  • The 20-week ban is clearly unconstitutional under the federal Constitution and the Montana Constitution.
  • Doctors oppose the 20-week ban. Physicians for Reproductive Health and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists condemn these bans.
  • Nationally, 78 percent of Democrats and 62 percent of Republicans say this is the wrong issue for lawmakers to be spending their time on.

Montanans should not have to justify their personal medical decisions to the government and doctors must not be criminalized for informing their patients about all their healthcare options when they are faced with complex medical situations.

Email your legislator today. HB 500 is unconstitutional, dangerous, and out-of-touch.
