Let Hoosiers Vote Absentee
TAKE ACTION NOW
Due to the public health emergency caused by COVID-19, Hoosier voters will encounter a variety of barriers to the ballot. Indiana Election officials must do everything they can to ensure every Hoosier has the means to execute their fundamental right to vote this November.
Hoosiers must have access to no-excuse absentee voting in the 2020 general election, and other barriers must be addressed in order for every Hoosier to cast their ballot, successfully. We are asking Governor Holcomb, Secretary of State Lawson, and the Indiana Election Commission to enact the following changes immediately:
- Enact no-excuse absentee voting for all Hoosiers immediately.
- Currently, mail-in ballots must be received by County Clerks by noon on Election Day. We urge officials to extend the deadline so that all ballots postmarked before or during Election Day are counted.
- We must broaden access to voting by mail, but in-person voting must remain a safe option.
- In order to ensure every Hoosier can participate in our democracy, Indiana should follow in the steps of other states to extend the absentee ballot application deadline to seven days or less before the election.
Take action to demand that officials address these barriers promptly by sound, vigorous, and responsible government action.
