In the final weeks of the 2026 legislative session, lawmakers added an amendment to a voting bill that would reduce Indiana's voting period from 28 days to just 16 days.
Hoosiers didn't even have a chance to testify on the amendment.
Reducing early voting would disproportionately harm certain voters, such as those who live in urban areas where election day lines are longer and working Hoosiers who may have limited time off to vote. In 2024, nearly a third of Hoosiers registered to vote did so early.
Indiana is already among the lowest states in the nation when it comes to voter turnout. Lawmakers should be focused on increasing voter participation – not making it even harder to vote.
Take action now. Tell your senator to oppose House Bill 1359 as amended.
