Defend the right to protest in North Carolina

The right to protest is under attack

Governor Cooper recently vetoed HB 805, a bill that threatens a pillar of our democracy - the right to protest. This bill is clearly retaliation for last summer’s protests demanding racial justice and police accountability.

Now, we need your help urging lawmakers to sustain the veto to prevent this harmful bill from becoming law.

HB 805 would give law enforcement and prosecutors broad discretion in who they arrest and charge with rioting during protests. It would stifle free speech and dissuade community members from exercising their right to protest.

Fill out the form below to your state Senator and Representative urging them to protect the right to protest in North Carolina by upholding Governor Cooper’s veto of HB 805.
