Gov. DeWine: Pull Ohio National Guard Troops Out of DC

Take Action

URGENT: Governor DeWine is supporting President Trump’s manufactured emergency by sending 150 Ohio National Guard members to Washington D.C. as part of the administration’s federal takeover of our nation’s capital. The ACLU of Ohio condemns this decision – governors must not submit to the president’s militarization of our communities.

Sending Ohio National Guard troops to support this abuse of power and sow fear in D.C. communities is unnecessary, inflammatory, and a serious misuse of our state’s Guard members. Ohioans expect our National Guard troops to be used for true emergencies – like natural disaster response here at home – not policing civilians in another community. The military is not meant to act – or appear to act - in service of a partisan political agenda.

The military has no place occupying D.C. or any other American city. The deployment of the National Guard is an intimidation tactic by an authoritarian administration and Governor DeWine is complicit.

TAKE ACTION: Urge Governor DeWine to keep Ohio's National Guard out of Washington D.C.
