The message:

The Trump administration’s plan to catalogue the data of everyone in America will supercharge the government's ability to spy on us – unless we act now to stop this assault on our right to privacy and free speech.

In March, under the guise of “combating fraud and waste,” President Trump ordered the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to help federal agencies consolidate the information they have about each of us – including our Social Security numbers, health records, and political donations – and make it available across the federal government.

Despite the huge concerns, DOGE and other federal agencies have already started this data consolidation – sometimes using untested AI systems. This is a massive and potentially illegal invasion of our privacy – and could wrongly flag people for investigation, delay or deny benefits, and waste taxpayer resources.

Creating a single federal database with everything that the government knows about every single person in this country is an Orwellian nightmare. We're seeking transparency about the government's use of DOGE and other unvetted outsiders to illegally access our data in court, but Congress has a job to do too. Congress must speak up now and protect us all from this privacy-destroying disaster.

U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives

Subject:

Keep DOGE's hands off our data

Body:

As your constituent, I am writing to ask you to ensure the government is protecting our privacy by demanding a stop to DOGE and other agencies' unauthorized access to our most personal information and an end to the dangerous “consolidation” efforts.

DOGE's access to databases at the Veterans Administration, the Social Security Administration, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare, and other agencies raises serious concerns about their compliance with legal requirements that ensure executive agencies are responsible stewards of our data. Further, the reported use of untrustworthy AI to consolidate our data gives government employees unprecedented access to data far beyond what's needed to perform their duties - with little constraint or oversight, ensuring our data stays safe. This puts all of us at risk of cybersecurity incidents, while increasing the chance of inaccuracies that could delay or deny benefits, wrongly flag people for investigation, and waste taxpayer resources.

Abuse of data and governmental procedures opens the door for wider abuses, including unconstitutional impoundment of funds, dismantling programs that help everyday Americans, corrupt use of sensitive confidential information for personal gain, and mass government surveillance.

As your constituent, I urge you to conduct immediate oversight into DOGE's actions and fight back against these intrusive privacy invasions.

Sincerely,
