Update:

4/18/2025 Good news: Governor Hobbs vetoed SB 1164, but there are many more anti-immigrant bills that could head to her desk in the coming weeks. Send a message to let her know she has your support.

The message:

The Trump Administration is pushing the moral and legal bounds of our country to expedite deportations, disregarding people's rights and humanity in the process. At the same time, the Arizona state legislature is advancing several bills that would force our state to do the anti-immigrant bidding of the federal government and use state resources to fuel the mass deportation machine.

The recipient:

Governor Katie Hobbs

The impact:

There are six harmful anti-immigrant bills making their way to Governor Hobbs’ desk:

  • SB1164, SB1088, and HB2099 would force total local and state compliance with federal mass deportation, no matter how costly, burdensome, or inhumane.
  • SB1268 would require hospitals to document the immigration status of patients.
  • SB1610 would require county jails to send ICE information on anyone simply arrested for certain criminal offenses, including theft and shoplifting.
  • SB1294 would lease the shuttered Marana Prison to the federal government for a single dollar to serve as an immigrant detention center.

If signed, these bills will force Arizona to take part in Trump’s extreme mass deportation agenda. It will take all of us to urge Governor Hobbs to use her veto pen to protect Arizona’s immigrant communities!

Review Message

We put in some suggestions, but make the message your own where possible!

Body:

As a concerned constituent, I implore you to veto SB1088, HB2099, SB1268, SB1610, and SB1294. These bills, taken together, represent a calculated and deeply troubling mass deportation agenda that will tear families apart, destabilize our communities, and undermine the civil rights and liberties of Arizonans.

Immigrants are part of our families, communities, workplaces and places of worship. No one should lose their fundamental rights based on their immigration status, nationality, race, or language. No one should lose their fundamental rights based on what they look like, sound like, or their immigration status. Our Constitution demands fairness for all. Please veto any harmful anti-immigrant bills that are sent to your desk.

Sincerely,
