ATHENS COUNTY: Reject Drag-Net Surveillance, Opt Out of Flock

A rapidly growing surveillance company called Flock Safety is building a form of mass surveillance unlike any seen before in American life. The company effectively enlists its customers into a giant centralized government surveillance network. Using Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPRs), Flock has tracked the comings and goings of countless Americans.
In Ohio, Flock has partnerships with dozens of local law enforcement agencies and the ACLU is working to expose and end these contracts to protect against government spying. Right now, we can make a difference in Athens County before the two-year contract with Flock renews this summer.
Tell Sheriff Smith to end Athens’ $40,000 contract and invest in programs that achieve public safety, without exposing its residents to intrusive surveillance. With the data being used by ICE agents and other law enforcement officers to track immigrants, protestors, and reproductive health care seekers, we must get rid of this shadowy surveillance technology.
