Companies like Flock Safety are quietly trying to build a nationwide mass surveillance system. One by one, West Virginia communities are being blanketed in surveillance software that tracks our every move and sells information about us to the government.

This technology is error-prone, sometimes misreading license plates and leading to false criminal accusations against innocent people. Abuses of this technology have included police officers using the cameras to stalk and harass women.

While many cities and towns are moving away from surveillance companies like Flock Safety, West Virginia communities continue to embrace the invasive technology even when residents oppose it en masse.

But we’re starting to see a shift. Across the political spectrum, leaders are speaking out against Flock.

"The Constitution does not disappear because technology advances," Chris Anders, chairman of the far-right West Virginia Freedom Caucus, said in a statement.

We couldn't agree more, and we hope you'll join us in sending a strong message to state lawmakers: Get the Flock out of West Virginia.
