Trans people under attack - we've got your back

Stop State Leaders From Bullying Transgender Youth

It’s starting to feel like anti-LGBT politicians are waging a war against transgender youth.

In addition to trying to pass some of the worst, most harmful legislation we’ve seen, 13 states are actually suing the Obama administration over its Title IX guidance affirming that transgender students should be allowed to use restrooms and locker rooms corresponding to their gender identity. A federal judge in Texas has blocked the guidance from taking effect – just as students prepare to head back to school.

With every inch of progress for transgender rights, there’s retaliation. The wave of hate directed at transgender people in North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Dakota, and other states hasn’t disappeared. We’re not letting North Carolina get away with it – and we won’t let other states get away with it now.

Tell the governors and attorneys general of the states suing in Texas v. United States you won’t let them get away with bullying transgender students.

To the Governors of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin; and the Attorneys General of Arizona, Louisiana, and West Virginia:

Stop playing politics with transgender youths’ lives, health, and safety. If you continue to shirk your responsibilities and use your authority to bully and discriminate against transgender students, we will make sure you feel the heat – and keep up public pressure until you commit to protecting transgender students’ rights.

Supporting policies that harm transgender youth comes with a political price and a financial cost – just look at North Carolina.
