Keep the Trump Administration’s Hands Off Our Data!

The government knows too much about us.
Right now, the U.S. government has the ability to obtain a ton of our most sensitive, personal information about every aspect of our lives – from where we live and worship to when we got our last period – by simply opening the federal wallet. If Donald Trump’s administration gains unfettered access to our personal data, they could use it to go after communities of color, political opponents, people seeking reproductive or gender-affirming health care, and anyone who disagrees with their policies.
When the government wants to obtain our private information, like our location data, the Fourth Amendment requires it to go to court and obtain a warrant. Instead, it has been buying its way around this requirement by purchasing our most sensitive data from data brokers – putting anyone who uses the Internet or carries a smartphone at risk of being tracked.
But we’re not powerless. We’re still pushing Congress to pass the overwhelmingly popular Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act to end this practice – and in the meantime, the Biden administration can put an immediate stop to this abuse of power by issuing a moratorium on the federal government’s ability to buy our data without a warrant.
Send a public comment to the Biden administration now and demand an end to federal purchases of personal information before Trump takes office again this January.
Note: Taking this action will leave a public comment for the Office of Management and Budget at federalregister.gov.
