Reduce Jail and Prison Population Amidst COVID-19

Tell Elected Leaders: Reduce Jail and Prison Population Amidst COVID-19

It is impossible to adhere to social distancing guidelines in our overcrowded jails and prisons. We’re already seeing outbreaks in these facilities. Viruses can’t be contained by prison walls. That’s why these facilities are public health risks for all of us. Any response to the COVID-19 pandemic should include a significant reduction in jail and prison population.

Overcrowded correctional facilities are putting West Virginians at risk for COVID-19. It’s time to significantly lower the incarcerated population.

We the undersigned are calling on our elected officials to release as many people as is safely possible.
