No border wall
Nayda Alvarez wants the U.S. government to know: “My home and my land is not someone’s campaign promise.”
The U.S. government sued to take possession of her family's property in Rio Grande City on Jan. 15, 2020 — in order to build the border wall there.
Her family has lived on that property for five generations. She grew up here and raised her children in this house next to the Rio Grande, and has seen nothing to justify the administration’s claims of a national emergency. The only threat she has experienced comes from the federal government trying to take her family’s property.
The ACLU of Texas, along with the Texas Civil Rights Project, is defending Nayda and her family. While we take our fight to the courts, you can show your support by adding your name to demand no more Texans are threatened by the Trump administration's xenophobic campaign promise.
